Principal Sobilo's Eagle Express Update October 5-9

Dear Families,

Happy October! We have a wonderful and busy month ahead of us at school.

Our WIN (What I Need) groups are officially up and running! Learners are diving deep into how words are formed and spelled, and morphology—the study of word parts—will be a major focus across our school this year. Ask your child what new word parts they’ve discovered so far!

In math news, we’ve been thrilled to host math guru Kim Sutton, who has been working directly with both our teachers and learners to build strong number sense. Ask your learner tonight: “Do you know what a digital root is?”—you might just learn a new math trick!

Our youngest learners in TK and Kindergarten, along with their buddies, are also gearing up for some autumn fun with upcoming field trips to the pumpkin patch over the next couple of weeks.

Important Dates to Remember

  • October 12–13: Dental Check-ups
  • October 14: Picture Day
  • October 23: Fall Carnival
  • October 30: No School (Staff Development)

Quick Reminders

  • Label Those Jackets: As autumn weather settles in, please label your child’s jackets and sweaters so missing items can easily find their way back home.
  • Health & Safety: Cold and flu season is here. Please keep your child home if they are experiencing a fever, cough, or vomiting.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support!

Principal Sobilo's Eagle Express Update

Happy 5th week, families! Here is a quick look at what’s happening at school:

  • Data Days: This week, our teachers are diving into "Data Days." They are analyzing all opening-of-the-year reading and writing assessment results to plan targeted instruction and tailored support for every student.
  • Monday Morning Meeting: We launch the week with our all-school assembly focused on our monthly theme: Respect and Kindness.
  • Empathy Interviews & ParentSquare: Thank you for such an incredible turnout during our Empathy Interviews! Thanks to your engagement, dozens of families got connected on ParentSquare—we now have only 81 families left to sign up.

Thank you so much for your partnership and dedication to our school community

Thank you to everyone who made our Back to School Night such a resounding success! It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout as families connected with staff, met fellow parents, explored classrooms, and learned about our school routines. We hope you enjoyed the hot dog BBQ and garden tours—it was a joy to share free flowers and fresh fruit and veggie bags with you. Gathering together brought such a warm, supportive energy to our campus.

Here are a few important updates for the weeks ahead:

Empathy Interview Week & Dismissal Schedule This week is Empathy Interview Week! We are eager to listen and learn from you so we can best serve your children.

  • Dismissal Time: Daily dismissal is at 12:55 PM (minimal day schedule).
  • After-School Care: Programs will run as normal for students who are already enrolled.

Early Benchmarks & Morning Routines

  • Assessments: We are continuing our early benchmark assessments to pinpoint exactly where students are academically, allowing us to tailor our instruction to their specific needs.
  • Morning Goal: Our goal this week is to have every student seated and ready to learn by 8:10 AM.
  • Traffic Safety: A huge thank you for your patience and care during drop-off and pick-up. Your dedication keeps our campus safe!

Upcoming Date to Remember

  • Monday, September 28: Districtwide Professional Development Day for teachers. No school for students.

Thank you for being such incredible partners in your child's education.

Warmly,
